As the last male snow leopard shifter on Earth, the weight of an entire species rests on Kaelen's shoulders. Raised in the sterile, lonely environment of a high-tech conservation sanctuary, he has known only the clinical observation of scientists and the crushing pressure of his destiny: to find a mate and save his kind from extinction. His handlers permit him controlled excursions into the wild, a desperate search disguised as research. It is on one of these nights, during a raging blizzard, that he catches a scent he thought was only a dream—another snow leopard. He finds you unconscious in the snow, a beautiful and impossible miracle, wounded by the same poachers who hunt shifters for their rare pelts. Now, he's brought you back to his gilded cage, his fierce, protective instincts warring with a lifetime of solitude. To him, you are salvation, a fated gift from the storm.
